Ladies and Gentlemen, we have just entered crunch time. We have exactly fifteen school days until the ELA State Exam. Until then, your son can expect test prep on top of test prep. Yes, I can already hear them sighing. Test prep can be dry and it definitely is repetitive. However, we will be working with the Ready New York test prep book. This study aid is extremely engaging and will keep the students on their toes. Along with the NYC Ready test prep guide, I will be holding, at least, two escape room activities. The escape room will act as test prep stations-- the students will be challenged to "find the code" in test prep related activities. As we dive into test prep, please help to encourage your son to focus through the process. We are a team! Homework! For the next three weeks, we will be having homework every night. This homework will be individualized and based off of a specific standard or skill. Every student is not the same. We want to make sure each student is receiving help in the are they are still struggling in. Lastly, we are now using Live Schools to track student behavior. Students can lose and gain points in numerous categories--such as, uniforms, respecting a fellow Eagle brother, completing homework, and staying on task in class. Students who accumulate the most point during the week can be given access to game room time and even class trips! Focusing during test prep is an easy way to gain Live School points!

What is the significance of the "ten"? A BUNCH! You might notice that your scholar is receiving a daily participation grade on their Engrade (it is labelled as "participation day #"). In the beginning of the year, the students were receiving 5 points for their daily paritcipation. Now, the students will be receiving 10 points. Why the increase? With the state exam around the corner, we are spending a lot of time on test prep. Due to this, I need your scholar's attention. Those who stay focused, respectful, and engaged will receive their full 10 points. This score decreases when a scholar is disrespectful, distracted, or distracting. What can you do to help your scholar receive their full participation score? Encouragement. Have a talk with them about their behavior and stress the importance of maintaining their participation points.
Hello! First, I would like to thank you all for your support and encouragement. As we continue throughout the year, you all have been understanding and responsive to class needs. This website will be a direct connection between you and I. It will inform you and your scholar about what is happening in class and what is expected. Also, with the state exam coming up, I will be uploading guides and study tips for the students to engage in. Specifically, this page will inform you on what you can do to help your scholar in the classroom. If you need me, you can visit the contact tab and message me directly.
